Pantone Introduces New Color Bridge
Pantone Matching Systems has introduced the Pantone Color Bridge Guide to bridge the gap between solid, process and Web color reproduction. It replaces the familiar Pantone solid to process guide and may put a few new color wrinkles into print production.
Some 95% of the color recipes have been modified in the new Color Bridge, and a side-by-side comparison with the old Pantone book shows that the color matches are certainly improved. That, after all, was the key impetus to creating the new guide.
The downside is that legacy files from older versions of DTP applications will use different recipes, making it possible for there to be inconsistent color build equivalents existing within a single project.
The good news is that the new Pantone Color Bridge system can be downloaded for FREE, but you will need to register to access the downloads. Download the new Pantone Color Bridge Swatch Library from Pantone at www.pantone.com. Click on “Support” and then select “color library update”.
